6'8" guard out of Libertyville, IL (far northern Chicago suburb) received an offer from Drake yesterday.  Top 5 player in Illinois.   link

We're kind of in on him late so hopefully we can make up ground. I looked and thought NW offered him but apparently not.

Scored 30 points or more in 3 games last year. Averaged 20ppg and 7rpg. Named one of nine players to keep an eye on next season by the Sun-Times. May get an argument from a number of people about being in the top five players in the state rankings, and I really can't say so one way or the other, myself, but in my opinion, he will be the Lake County player of the year and the captain of the Daily Herald's All Lake County team. Lake County boasts such outstanding teams as Waukegan, Zion-Benton, Warren and Stevenson, so it will be a well deserved honor. One columnist felt he has been overlooked thus far, because Libertyville did not have a good year. They totally collapsed in the playoffs after surrendering a huge lead. A week or two later, their coach resigned, after only two years at the helm. He is still a young guy, so his resignation was a little strange. He used the standard line about wanting more family time.
Fun fact, which I have mentioned once before. Marlon Brando, Hollywood's legendary god father, graduated from Libertyville High School, and urban legend has it that he rode his motorcycle down the halls one day. Not hard to believe.
Libertyville is also the alma mater of yours  truley's (sp) son-in-law, four time North Suburban Conference tennis champion.

Latest offer is from Miami-Ohio. Power 5s seem to not be interested, thus far.

Speaking of fun facts and Riff Raff, here's another. In addition to Marlon Brando, Libertyville High is also the alma mater of "Rage Against the Machine" founder and "Audioslave" member, Tom Morello. Supposedly, his radical ways all started there.
I guess the middle/upper middle class of Libertyville bred the Brando-Morello rebel outlook. Hmmmm, my son-in-law is one mellow fellow, but my granddaughter will be a freshman there in September....wonder if I should start worrying now?!?!
Don't you just love fun facts?

Went to a summer league game last night and saw on the schedule that Libertyville was also at the tourney and were scheduled to play in a game following the one I went to see. So, I thought I would hang around to see Peterson. There was one "no show." Guess who it was.

Always like hearing Drake in the same sentence as Michigan, Miami, and Vandy. He also mentioned Valpo and Loyola.

Well, that's actually the Miami of the Jeff Rutter variety. But sentiment still stands.

Sun-Times said today that Peterson will play out his senior season and will not commit in November. He will wait until spring to make official visits.
I have a feeling that Drake may pull back on him since they have Moors and Thistlewood committed. From the film I have seen of Thistlewood, his style is very similar to Peterson. Then again, not too shabby to have two 6"7" guys who can handle the ball and shoot off the dribble!

After announcing that he will not commit until spring, when he makes official visits, it appears that there have been no additional offers. All teams listed in Verbal Commits show "medium interest." The competition for him is decent, though....William & Mary, Loyola Chicago and Maryland, Kent, Tulane, Rice, Miami of Ohio, Yale , Bowling Green and Drake, plus a few others.
Last night in his opening game he picked up 3 quick fouls, but scored 25 points in only 3 quarters. According to the write up he had some nice touches in the post. They lost the game to Ore's alma -mater, St. Viator.
As I have said, the kid can shoot, but as I also said, he is really skinny.
