King scored 37 tonight in a 91-84 victory.

Short write up from Tribune. Whoever gets Tyus Jones is getting a stud!!!

EASTVIEW 91, APPLE VALLEY 84: Two teams from the same town usually don’t need any extra hype for their rivalry matchup. Throw into the mix that they are the No. 1- and No. 3-ranked teams in Class 4A, and you have fans literally hanging from the rafters as well as sitting and standing around the court. That was the case Friday night in Apple Valley when an overflow crowd (capacity 3,046) watched top-ranked Eastview and the third-rated host Eagles square off in an intense South Suburban Conference battle. The two teams’ leading scorers, Eastview senior Joey King and Apple Valley sophomore Tyus Jones, traded baskets throughout the night. King, a Drake recruit, finished with 37 points, while Jones wound up with a game-high 39 points and also dished out 11 assists. King went 12-for-13 from the free-throw line, and Jones was 10-for-10. Both teams had four players in double figures. Eastview junior forward Ben Oberfeld also finished with a double-double (12 points and 11 rebounds). The Lightning (11-0) scored 54 points in the second half after falling behind by one at the intermission. Apple Valley (10-2) used a 13-1 run late in the first half in overcome a six point deficit, and eventually take a 37-36 lead into the locker room at the intermission. Ticket sales for the matchup were stopped an hour before the opening tipoff.

Wait a second. Wasn't the game at Apple Valley? Is that for sure King on the jam? It was a player in the white uniform. Did Eastview not have their road jerseys for some reason and have to wear white?

No idea about why the white uniforms for the away team. But, that's for sure King on the jam.

Here's another site with more video of the game (it's the first video link)

Eastview beat Madison Memorial (ranked #1 in Wisconsin's big-school class) 64-37. King scored 11. It sounds like Eastview is a pretty good team, and King is the best player on that team.

In Minnesota away teams wear white. Joey King with 37 points, he's also a pretty good rebounder, if he can put on a few pounds of muscle I definitely think he will be a useful player for Drake.

91-84 for a high school game. Maybe P can take some offensive pointers from the video.

Per Joey's twitter feed he took a nasty charge and a kid's teeth cut into his scalp. He's fine though.

All three recruits seem to have some skills we could use next season. Living in Minnesota, I try to keep close tabs on Mr. King and he seems to be the real deal, being the star player on the number 1 team in the state.

After a work transfer to Minnesota, the first high school bb game I went to, I thought the opposing team had brought along their home jerseys by mistake. I then discovered they are backwards in their bb uniforms in Minnesota. I had lived in Iowa, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Louisiana before arriving in MN and all those states did the conventional white home uniforms. That, of course, also includes the NBA and all college BB. Minnesotans merely think that everyone is out of step but them.

In MN, my future wife took me out to meet her kin at the family farm and while I was there someone asked me if I would like some 'hot dish'. Not knowing exactly what that meant, I sputtered some lame answer. The family probably wondered what kind of a zero did she bring home. In MN it is 'hot dish', in the rest of the world it is casserole. Again, everybody is out of step but MN.

Our state has elected a Socialist US Senator, Paul Wellstone, a vile airhead US Senator, Al Franken, a circus clown Governor, Jesse Ventura, and has one of the most despised US House Members in Michele Bachmann, so the track record here is shaky in elected officials. But with all that it is pretty much on par with Iowa in raising a family and having a nice standard of living.

That's enough blubbering - A proud Minnesota Bulldog

He went 12-13 from the FT line? Will be interesting to see what happens when he comes in under Phelps.

JK scored 17 while battling foul trouble in his team's 85-75 victory last night. The team they beat was 17-2 on the season coming in (King's team is 19-1).

Tyus is one heck of a sophomore point guard, but he scores too much for Drake to recruit. I think somewhere it was posted that Drake is recruiting Joey's teammate who was the leading scorer for Eastview yesterday.

I'm guessing Drake would be wasting their time trying to recruit him.....he's only a sophomore, but already has scholarship offers from Baylor, Arizona, Iowa State, Marquette, Minnesota, Ohio State, etc. I don't think I'd like our chances of landing a 5-star player, so I'm ok with the staff not recruiting him.

This kid is looking more and more like a recruiting steal. Give him a year under Seth and Clarke to learn the system and put on some muscle and he could be great down the stretch.

Rebuilding the tradition one rebound at a time!

I'm not saying we should recruit him. Heck Duke and Michigan State are after him with their head coaches attending games besides those you listed. I was referring to the scoring point guard comments in the Richard Carter thread.
