There's an interesting article comparing college football budgets and on field success. It calls Iowa and Iowa St the most financially reckless programs in their conferences since neither program gets the results it should be getting for the money they spend. Iowa has the 2nd highest budget in the Big 10, and the 3rd highest in college football. ISU's budget is 6th in the Big 12. Over the last five years, both schools are the worst in their conference when playing teams with lower budgets.

| Iowa outspent SC by almost $6 million. I am assuming SC's budget did not include player bonuses.
