Kraidon Woods will be spending his last two years of eligibility at Drake. The 6'9" PF with a 7'1" wingspan will play immediately (2010 season) for the Bulldogs.
This is a big get for Drake. They are adding another rebounder and shot blocker. A high school graduate in 2007, Kraidon Woods was a 3 star recruit for both scout and rivals
Woods originally committed to Villanova, but ended up being a Sun Devil at Arizona State. He transfered to Binghamton after his sophomore campaign at ASU. Now, he as been released by the NCAA to play for Drake.

| I have not seen official confirmation, but I've heard this from multiple sources now, so I assume it's true.
Signed with Villanova out of high school, but went to a prep school for a year instead. Signed with Arizona State out of prep school (Villanova offered again)......He scored 16 points in 2 seasons at ASU, playing a total of only 77 minutes.
I hope he reminds us more of the guy that Villanova offered twice than the guy who was stuck at the end of the bench at ASU. Looking at the schools that recruited/offered him out of high school and prep school, he's obviously got some serious talent. Not sure what the story was at Arizona State.
He's a long, athletic '4', something this team definitely needed.
Good get by the Drake staff.

| You've got to wonder what you're getting with this guy. Does anybody have any idea why he never played at ASU? If he had followed the normal course, he would have been a Senior in 09-10. Hopefully his age will be an asset, and he has had two extra years to bulk up.
I think I read a while back that Phelps is the guy that recruited Woods to ASU. Maybe he sees something that his old boss did not. I haven't been disappointed in any recruits yet, so I'm guessing he will help.
Don't pass up the shot. |

| Woods's resume reminds me a little bit of Clarke's resume: He hasn't done much in college, but we'd be ecstatic if we'd gotten him out of high school. I think Binghamton runs a completely different system than Drake, so Woods will have to pick up Phelps's system quickly. He should be somewhat familiar with Phelps's system after playing at ASU for two years under Sendek (and Phelps was at ASU for his freshman year). He must be a good student since Penn recruited him after he transferred from ASU. Drake will have three juniors in his class (Wiseler, Alexander, and Woods) so that will add a little balance to the roster. I'm not sure what to expect from him, but if he can rebound he'll be a valuable addition.

| I saw him throw down a pretty nice dunk when he scrimmaged with the Drake team earlier this spring. I only watched for about 5 minutes, but I picked up a couple things.
He is really long. He is athletic.
That should make Kraidon a big asset with rebounding and blocking shots.
I can see him being a scoring threat around the basket by using his size and athleticism.
Can't wait to see in summer league... |

| Good news indeed.
A kid that is Michael Bradley's size, plus he must be 23 years old or so.
We were excited after seeing MB, we're better off with Kraidon.
Ask AJ Calvin what he thinks of him. He scrimmaged against Kraidon when he was here. If AJ likes him (and he does) so do I.
Holy Cow! We have more talent than ANY Bulldog team has EVER had. Talent doesn't mean wins, but it's a heck of a good start!
Great Job Staff!
Welcome Kraidon.

| Glad to have Kraidon on board.
Hopefully he will be allowed to rebound and make a difference in the D lineup.

| This is huge, the "big news"any have been anticipating for some time, which some, such as me, thought was dead news. Exactly what Drake needed, a defensive and rebounding presence to go along side SVD. Forget best recruiting class in the Valley this year -- how about all time.

With respect Hoosier, I think you may be getting a little carried away in saying that this team has more talent than any Bulldog team ever. The 68-69 team had three guys who later played in the NBA. I'm also not ready to say that this is the best recruiting class ever. However, on paper, the last two years are in my opinion the best consecutive recruting classes ever. Let's see how they actually play.
I'm not sure how Coach is going to find playing time for all 13 players, because (again on paper) there don't appear to be any weak links. That's a good problem to have though.
Kudos to Coach Phelps! An amazing job of bringing in talented players who are also good students. |

| gotta agree. Looks like a champion recuiting class. OMG I've never said that before. Kudos to Phelps. This is a high major class. Recruits out there. Wanna go to the dance. Hop on the bus.

72: I know you are old and you were there too,(was that personal?) and even though these are happy times, with all due respect I must respond:
1. I don't give a d.... about the NBA. I mean Talent as a team.
2. If you want to compare the 68-69 roster that included:
Ron Gwin, Al Sakys, Bob Mast, Dave Wicklund, Dale Teeter, Jim Nordrum, Rick
Wanamaker, Larry Sharp, Gary Odom, and Jim O'Dea
To the Talent of the 13 we have on this team?????
You go right ahead. That is your right on this board.
I wasn't saying 3 or 4 guys, I meant as a team. Sorry for any misinterpretation.
Go Dogs!
