Jon Miller at Hawkeye Nation says he's heard rumors Grant Gibbs is transferring from Gonzaga. He's a guard from Linn-Mar in Iowa. He was a redshirt freshman this year, so he'd have two years left to play if he transfers to another D1 school. He was pretty highly recruited out of high school, and it looks like he played a little less than 10 mpg this year. I wonder if Drake would have any interest.

I think Drake has plenty of good players at his position for the next 3-4 years......Rice, Jeffers, Welfringer, Smith....Simons might even play some '2' somewhere down the road. Not sure another wing player is what the Bulldogs really need.

I think Drake has plenty of good players at his position for the next 3-4 years......Rice, Jeffers, Welfringer, Smith....Simons might even play some '2' somewhere down the road. Not sure another wing player is what the Bulldogs really need.
I thought he was more of a combo guard than a wing. He looks like a big guard, and Phelps loves those types of players. Drake definitely needs more help in the frontcourt than the backcourt, but Gibbs was a top 150 recruit out of high school. If he's really that talented and he's interested in Drake (and I have no idea if either is true), Drake should at least take a look at him.
