| Thanks for the link DA. Based on this, he sounds like an ideal Drake player:
“Obviously, he was our go-to-guy and when we needed a basket we got the ball in his hands, he can create his own shot and that’s the type of player you have to have now days,” said head men’s basketball coach Dennis Pilcher. “He’s my third All-American an all three of those guys came in without much recruiting hype. Through hard work and lots of practice they turned themselves into All-Americans.”

| | I guess I'm surprised that we would be looking at another guard with Wiseler/Madison at PG and Wedel/Smith at the 2 and then considering Rice/Simons/Hawley at either the 2 or 3. Altho if MP wants to run a true 3-guard offense, maybe he wants another for depth at the 1 or 2 spots? I'm still thinking we need another big rebounder for frontcourt help. Altho maybe there will be 2 openings instead of just the 1 that we know about? |

There may be many factors that we don't know about. This staff has done a great job recruiting since they've been here, and I'll trust their judgment. I agree with everybody that we need another big body, but if the 'dogs have a chance to get a juco all-american point guard, I've got no problem with that. Who knows....maybe we'll get a big guy and a point guard. If the guys are good enough, they'll find a scholarship for them.

| I think it would be good to get another guard. I am not as enamored with FW as some others seem to be.
A good offense is the best defense.... |

I think FW is a great back-up point guard.....but, I'm not convinced he's an above average starting point guard. Madison might be good, but he'll also be a true freshmen. I think that anytime you can upgrade at the point guard spot, you should do it.

| | Since this was FW's first year, now that he's had a full season under his belt, I'm hopeful he comes back much more prepared for PG. I don't think that any of us expected AE to perform like he did when he was named PG before that season started. So maybe FW plays at a level higher this year? Actually I'm hoping that ALL the returnee's come back much improved. With all the new players, the coaches AND the players all had alot of uncertainty of how things would shake out, who would fit at what positions, learning to play at the Valley level andn it took a good part of the season to settle in. So with a year's experience with all the new guys, the coaches and players should be much better prepared to hit the ground running. I look for alot of improvement in performance and confidence and I can't wait to see the new guys fit in as well. |

| The need to get a 1 has more to do with the need for depth than dissatisfaction with FW. RW is a more effective 2, David S is a combo guard and his development was delayed by injury so he's almost like a freshman, Madison is a freshman. There is a major need to find someone to compete with and fill in for Frank.

| | Yes, I agree that a JUCO AA PG would be a nice addition. I was originally not too excited when I saw his only other option was NDSU, but now I see other schools after him including Creighton and Illinois, so I feel better about his credentials. A true performer at PG can add alot of stability and performance to a team - I remember what Freddie Downtown Brown brought to the 1970 Iowa team. He was a JUCO that made a good Iowa team into a GREAT team that went undefeated in Big 10 play, most nights they scored over 100 points and this was before the 3-pointer. |

| Mc Bulldog (4/12/2010) Kurt Alexander .... WELCOME to Drake !!!!!!!!!!!
There's nothing official.....but I'm encouraged that people on other message boards seem to think he's coming to Drake. Message boards of other schools that are looking at him.
Keeping my fingers crossed that there will be something offical on Wednesday.

| If this turns out to be correct, it will be the first recruting thread ever started by Dawgtired that involved a real person, or at least one who actually considered Drake.
Don't pass up the shot. |

Even if it doesn't turn out to be correct, it will be the first and only thread every started by Dawg_Tired in the recruiting section that involved a player Drake was actually recruiting.

| Just saw my barber at the Kum & Go or Git 'n Go or whatever the honk it's called, and he said Kurt is going to be a Drake Bulldog. His nephew is Josh Henry from Winterset who has played in the summer league and with Mr. Alexander in Ft Dodge.
