| UNI gets Nebraska
UI - Rutgers
ISU - Lehigh
One out of the 3 could be interesting...

| 4Bulldogs, I presume you are referring to the Iowa/Rutgers matchup? My money is on Iowa, if their shooting percentages are at all good. Rutgers is a poor offensive team -- C Viv needs to find an assistant coach who knows who to coach offense because she can't/won't give it the attention it needs. Rutgers also has a shallow bench, not because of injuries but because of player defections.
Lehigh is undersized compared to ISU. Now, if the Cyclones had great post play, this game would be a blowout. But they don't. Both Lehigh and ISU have good outside shooters.
The more interesting games in Ames will be those involving Virginia. They have a heckuva player in Moni Wright, and they could give Cy a run for their money at home. Having watched Andrea Riley beat the Cyclones in KC last weekend (yeah, she pretty much did it single-handedly), and scoring more times than I can count from the top of the key with with the same screen play while the Cyclones seemed oblivious, I am not all that sure that the Cyclones are headed for the Sweet 16. (Yeah, I know; Lacey wasn't playing, but for crying out loud, there were 5 Cyclone defenders on the floor and none of them could deal with the screen? Okie State only has about 2 real offensive threats.)
UNI versus Nebraska...this is an argument for giving the regular season MVC champ an automatic berth in the NCAA's...or asking the NCAA to have a BCS tournament and a separate tournament for the rest of the conferences. The only thing that will keep it from being terribly lop-sided is Connie Yori's graciousness. Else, it will be Nebraska by 40+.

| Final: Nebraska 83 UNI 44.
In the meantime, Illinois State, winner of the regular season MVC title, wins again to advance to the WNIT Sweet 16, where they host KU on Thursday. KU beat Creighton by a bucket today. Missouri State beat Samford to also advance to the round of 16 in the WNIT.
I understand the cache associated with the NCAA, but I have to believe that the MVC teams who made it past the first WNIT round (IL State, Creighton, and MSU) are getting better experience to build on for next year than is the UNI team who just got clobbered by the Huskers.
