| Does anybody else see the irony in focusing on who signs the basketball camp letter and calling someone a micromanager?
I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong (I have no idea) but I just found it humorous. |

| | Do all schools have an assistant coach as the camp director or was that something we were just doing? For some reason, I though the head coach was always the camp director. |

I think the poster that mentioned the camp letter thought it strange that a change had occurred. Traditionally, yes,
the head coach is the director of his school's camps. In this case, he's being called a micro-manager because he has to be in charge of calling every play and moving grown men around on the floor like a grade school youth coach.

| I understand the point. I still don't care who runs the camp and using it as a basis of "see, he's a micromanager!" when every other head coach runs their camps is ridiculous.
You could argue the other side and say that he's not a micromanager because he allowed an assistant, one that I'm sure he'd had no history with, to run the camp his first year here. |

I have to admit, I hate it when a college point guard dribbles across have court and looks back at the coach for the play. That's not offense, that's a video game.

I watched my niece play online today. She's a high school girl point guard and doesn't do that as a freshman varsity player. But I noticed the coach did a lot of instructing to the team during time outs etc |

Ok, I get the Brick94 thing........ my vote goes to JO to sign the letter and run the camp. It's for the kids to learn
the fundamentals anyway...right?

| Okay, since I'm the one who brought up the camp business, I'm gonna try to clarify the meaning behind it for *me*.
Look, I get that head coaches are the main person behind everything that falls under the bball program and with the AD can make whatever changes he sees fit (including putting a headshot on the brochure but whatever...haha)
That said, JO has been the face/voice/name behind camp for years. For the past 3 years we have sent our kids, JO is there to greet hundreds of kids, get them fired up, direct the player-coaches AND oftentimes, actually leads a rotation of the day's skill activities in the Bell Center.
I understand that it takes a lot of preparation and hands on help, but JO has camp running like a well-oiled machine. He doesn't grab the mike, say some nice words, then disappear to his office like head coaches do (cough cough, inclusive of previous one), JO is there from well before camp starts and I'm certain stays well after it ends to finish up other duties. Defining who is "Camp Director" may seem petty to some but IMHO, it's less about the title than it is acknowledging the dedication by an individual to this important community connection to the bball program.
So there, I've said my peace...

Very well said.... If it's not broken...."DON'T FIX IT". That's exactly how we got into this mess in the first place.
