“We need to err on the side of being aggressive, instead of laying back,” Drake coach Mark Phelps said of his attempts to snap his team out of a losing streak that has now reached six games. “I liked the rhythm of the game with us pressing more.”
I hope he sticks to this philosophy.

| Depends on who we are playing and how we match up. Sometimes the press will force desired results and sometimes it can bite you right in the gizzard. As long as the press is implemented correctly and has the intended effects on the other team, I'm all for it.
I'd like to see the rest of the team take on the same ice in the veins toughness that Adam and Bill show. Also, if Craig can clean up just a few possessions and encourage his teammates to do the same .... we are going to be a lethal unit out on the court. If the efficiency can improve just 15%, let alone 25-30%, who knows how good this team can be. Wedel, Van Beast, and Simons, (& the rest actually) start shooting the ball more effectively and there is another big gain in the arsenal. Put the dang ball in the bucket like men, kapeesh?

| | Ok, I've tried to basically shut it down for the season & not post (most people on here would be happy about that) since we keep falling further into the abyss, but when Phelps starts talking about pressing I have to take note! Didn't he say before the season started that he wanted to play faster? How long did that last? Basically the first few games, IUPUI & ISU. He has fallen back into his comfort zone, the plodding 40 & 50 point games. I know, we scored 69 against Creighton. What will we do against SIU? How will we play? Will we lose 51-42 or 75-69? No plan. No idea. |

| I think the Bulldogs are kind of a rudderless ship, but maybe MP will find something that works and go with it eventually. He has reverted, but maybe he figured out that was a mistake. We can sure hope.
