| Bulldogs have won two straight at the Qwest Center. Creighton has been struggling so far this season. Can the young Bulldogs hang with the Bluejays?

| Not without a major change in offensive philosophy.

| | Creighton has certainly had a down year by their standards. However it is going to be extremely tough to beat them at their house. They've played a much much better schedule than ours and have been competitive in every game they have played (with the exception of Xavier). Is it impossible to win? no, we have shown that the last two seasons. But it is not very probable. |

| This could be really ugly. Drake has shown no ability to succeed against a press and Creighton has been under a lot of flack for their play.

| | Honestly, I'll count losing by less than 15 as a major moral victory. But, nothing is impossible on the basketball court. |

| | Win or lose, I would like to see Drake play well in the last 10 minutes of the game. If nothing else it would be something to build on. |

exactly! we have seen too many games this year lost in the 2nd half. we need to learn how to gain, manage, and protect a lead.

I definitely agree with this. The last 10 minutes of games have not been Drake's strong point this year. (yes, I realize that is a huge understatement)

Protecting a lead is ALL we try to do. We don't attack. We play not to lose, which almost always results in a loss. Phelps needs to learn to take a risk and trust his players.

| Drakey (1/5/2010) We play not to lose,
That's exactly what Aaron Hawley said in the post-game interview after the Indiana State game.

Dr. Tom talked about this a lot during the 2nd and 3rd seasons, and the difficulty a coach faces in forming a team's mindset.

| The Free Thow and 3 point percentages are bogus at this point. We are a 50% Free throw shooting team and a 15-20% 3 shooting team.

| "Not being able to finish" is a mindset. That mindset is set and established by the leaders...on the floor....and on the
bench...or should be. We do not have the "killer instinct". We're too soft in our whole approach. We accept a
measure of failure as o.k. When your coach is not willing to pull out every weapon to secure victory...he's a "Dove"
and not a "Hawk".

Moral victories just don't get it done. You remind me of the coach. We need to play more aggressive to have any chance of success. It is time for MP to re-evaluate his "system". It ain't working. For the second season the team has not progessed but regressed. |

Raw, I agree with all of this. Do you really think Coach P is holding something back though? I understand the disagreement regarding overall scheme, etc., what I am asking is short of jetisoning the coach, what weapons do you think are not being used?

|
4Bulldogs (1/5/2010) side-by-side comparison
Well, DU edges out CU in FT pct and 3-pt FG pct and that's about it...
I believe that - this is the worst shooting Creighton team I've seen in a while.
The big question might be whether Drake can get back home after the game. Apparently we are expecting a bunch more snow. I expect it will have a pretty big effect on attendance, so there is that.... |
