| It looks like everything is shutting down with a blizzard on the way. Even Drake is closing today.

I have a feeling they won't be back in business tomorrow at 7am.

| Got up about 20 minutes ago and went out to shovel the back deck. It is beatuful outside but since starting @ Drake/'78 ... in 31+ years in DSM, this looks to be the one. The wind quites down for about 15 seconds and then whamola ... a burst of wind that is strong as honk .... the snow is flying everywhere. If I had to guess, we have 1 1/2 or more feet total on the ground. That includes the 4-5 inches that we recv'd before this storm. It's still snowing though .... At least the snow is falling from the west to the east now.

| After seeing the photo at the top of this thread again, I wish the snow were only that deep. Drake is closed today, along with just about everything else in central Iowa including most offices and many roads. I needed to shovel out a path in the backyard for my dog. I want to clear my driveway, but I'm pretty sure the snow would cover it up again before I could finish.

| I must say as a transplanted Iowan of 12 years, holy mother! Could barely get the back door open to let the dog out--he's a big snow dog so I can get away without shoveling for now... If roads don't get cleared for awhile I can't imagine what tomorrow will look like with people trying to get back out.
I'm absolutely certain that all Drake students will be using today to study all day long in anticipation of finals...

| | I can virtually guarantee you that Jeff and his roomate are not awake yet. I am sure they will shovel a path so the kids can get to Hubble. What else do they really need? |
