Heart breaker all season long the kids played as hard as they could.

Many with serious injuries the list of surgeries during the off season will be long. Many of the fifth years and others will carry remnants of injuries this season for the rest of their lives . They deserve nothing less than everyone's respect.

For nothing but the love of the game.

I am proud of each and everyone of the team!

Correction from a prior statement I made. Piatkowski completed 17 of 29 passes for 166 yards against Butler. He finished the season with 2,139 yards passing - the most by a Drake quarterback since Connor Jostes threw for 2,196 yards in 2004.

I'm glad that the right people (players, AD and most parents)have confidence in the coaching staff.

Great season BULLDOGS.

One more correction:

I'm glad that the right person (AD) has confidence in the coaching staff.

Edit: I have no issue with the assistants, especially the defensive coaches.

LurkingDog, I was wondering how many games you saw in person this season?

A good stalker would already know.

Although I don't live in Des Moines, I see home and away games every year. And I'll continue long after you're gone.

I think your very right in saying that the AD may be the only one to have confidence in the offensive coaching staff

I'll ask the question again.

I am curious what do the true freshman playing have to do with it. I think they did pretty well. What's your point, Two Dog Night

Wow, I can't believe the anger. 8-3 is another step back toward the top. Not a disappointment. And by the way, Butler was not your normal Butler this year. I've seen plenty of Butler teams and this was no doubt the best one. Far and away. A very good team.

That being said, the Bulldogs did have a chance to win this one. But it wasn't playcalling that did them in, it was personnel. Mainly guys along the front line. Now believe me, these guys tried. And there are some big boys along the front. But I don't know that they were all made to pass protect. More of a running type of offensive line ... but this isn't a running offense. Not schematically and not in skill position. The guys just never gave Piatkowski enough time. Not against Butler and not against the top teams they played.

The good news is that it looks like the o-line's got some big skinny guys that hopefully will turn into big athletic guys along the front. And when that happens, this playbook opens way up.

All that being said, there is a reason this team was picked 6th in the preseason. And there is a reason this team finished tied for third. Good coaching/playing.

By the way, for all you slamming the coaches ... I hope you guys make to at least half of the games. And if not, you better be someone like Lurking Dog ... live a long ways away but follow the team with a passion. If you are none of the above ... then give me a break. Attitudes like that without game attendance will get a very competitive program canned by the school. Make sure you give support before giving criticism. Those guys and the school deserves it.

The Four Horsemen will ride again!!!!! BULLDOG FOOTBALL RULES!!!!!

I now live in the same time zone. And I'm making about half the games on the schedule, even though family issues kept me busy this fall.

Yes, 8-3 is good. I am proud of the Bulldogs.

BigDog, check your messages on the other board.

BigDog66, where have you been? Your post is probably the most spot on I've read in the last couple of days. And from someone who has actually seen the games.

Butler went on to defeat Central Connecticut State, 28-23, in the Gridiron Classic.

Very nice. PFL is now 3-1 in post season. Should get us an automatic bid to championship series.
