| djom's plan is working so far. Bulldogs need to contain Valentino's running and get #38 blocked.
I think a basketball ticket gets you into both games, although making the kickoff might require leaving the Knapp Center a little early.

Kickoff at 3? The basketball game should end about 2:45 or 2:50...hopefully, plenty of time to get there by kickoff.
Now, if I've got this figured out correctly, Drake has to win at Butler, or they can't win the conference championship, no matter what happens this week.

| | I saw on another site; that Dayton believes if they win out--and Butler loses--that they can still lay claim to the championship. We need to definately end any of their hopes in that regard this weekend. |

Yes. However--Depending on the outcome of Butler-JU, Drake could have a tough road to the title after losing to Dayton. Hard to predict how a tiebreaker might come out.

| | No offense to the BB team, but there will be plenty of BB games to catch - leave early if you have to - get to THIS football game if you're a Bulldog fan. |

| Every student who is receiving athletic aid (scholarship) should be REQUIRED to be at this game and show support. If you are getting your education paid for; take 3 hours and support your school.

| Wow. Dogs lose 23-6 so DU, BU, and Dayton are in a 3-way tie for 1st (BU lost today). Season-low 166 yards of offense. No time to dwell on the loss, the Dogs need to beat up on Butler next week!

I give the Dogs a C on that one. Too many guys diving at his ankles. Stay on your feet and make a tackle.
...and get #38 blocked.
That was Platek's job today, but Vercammen was a slippery one. He made 10 tackles.
I think a basketball ticket gets you into both games...
That was the deal. But virtually no one from the basketball game showed up. Five minutes before game time, a large group of students walked by the Stadium from the Knapp Center--some of them wearing nothing warmer than t-shirts. They were all headed back to the dorms.
-----------------------------------------------
QB play was not championship caliber. Piatkowski locks onto his receivers; on running plays he looks like he's in slow-mo. Is this our guy for the next three years?
Defensive secondary seldom looked for ball when covering pass routes. The refs didn't come close to calling all the pass interference committed by the Bulldogs.

| The offense just never showed up. Couldn't execute against the Dayton D. Game plan never adapted to the game as it unfolded. Kept trying all the things that didn't work time and time again. Barely attempted anything more than a 10 yd pass. One decent down field pass called back on a holding call, but at least it was an attempt.
As for the officiating. They let a lot of pass interference go both ways. Saw muggings on both sides of the ball. Valentino seemed to be moaning to the refs quite a bit, but to no apparent effect. |

| Even though I agree to some extent with the posts about the game, I wonder where all this 'in depth analysis' was while Drake was on a 6 game winning streak.
Dayton was a quick, physical and athletic team. They set the tempo early with their defense and owned both lines of scrimmage. Give some credit to them.
I knew the secondary would be challenged in this match-up. Dayton's o-line forced the secondary to cover receivers longer than in any other game this season. When the secondary had good coverage (and it did happen), Valentino scrambled out and ran for some nice yardage. Something the linebackers hadn't seen much this season as well.
As for the Drake offense. I would like to see a little more of a running game. Not sure if the problem is up front or in the back field. It's really tough for a back to come in for one series and then go out for 2 quarters and then be expected to come in and produce. Seems like that would take an Adrian Peterson type back (big - with break away speed). We don't have anything like that on our roster.
This has been a great season for the Bulldogs. I know many of you are disappointed with Saturday's outcome. Continue to support the Bulldogs. This Coaching staff will make the necessary adjustments before heading to Butler and put the boys in the best possible position to win the game. |

| | Yes LurkingDog, Piatkowski is our guy. When given time, he makes every read and gets the ball to his receivers. This kid is tough. He's one of the better redshirt freshman I've seen play in a long time. Doubt it? Ask his receivers. |

| I don't doubt his toughness, but I wonder about his ability to throw a 20-yard pass. Or isn't that in the playbook?

| I haven't been to the games lately, but why isn't CC using Cashmore. Kid has a 100 yds in his first game back and hasn't seen the ball hardly since. He had only 6 rushing attempts on Saturday.

| Mike was in back to back state championship games in high school.
How many QBs can say that? Also He has thrown the deep pass in the past. So it is in Mike's ability. |
