Any guesses on which game he breaks the record. If he averages 21 a game it will be during the 16th game of the season. If he averages 15 it will be around game 22 or 23. DUB and Mecha are lining up takers and McB is running the book.

3 in a Row: 2007, 2008, 2009. Let's make it 4!

I assume he'll score more in non-conference games than in conference games. He could score 20+ppg to start the year, and then see his average drop once he faces tougher MVC defense. Regardless, he should break the record as long as he doesn't get hurt. If he plays in every game and averages at least double-digit scoring, he'll set the record eventually. I just hope it happens at home. Or at Iowa, that would be good too (30 ppg is doable ).

The sign girls talked about doing a countdown. We'd keep paper numbers around. Maybe do a countdown update once a game?

I think he's down to 8 ppg. At that rate he doesn't break the record does he?

Well, if we get four games in MVC tourney and 5 in NIT, he might make it at that pace. I'm too lazy to do the math.

It's curious that Josh does not seem to be very involved in the offense this year. Number of shots, points, etc. are all down. In particular, he doesn't seem to be driving to the basket as much as in previous seasons. Last night against Austin Peay he took only 7 shots. Any thoughts on whether it's the lingering effect of the hip pointer / ankle injuries or just the nature of our offensive system?

Seems to me there are more three point shooters getting minutes....Wedel, Simons....limiting some of Josh's shots. I do think his numbers will pick up as the season continues.

There were plenty of three point shooters in 07-08, and Young was a much better scorer then than last year. More 3 point shooters in the lineup is to Young's advantage. He just needs to wait for shots, like he did against Austin Peay, and he'll be fine.

... seems like there are 2-3 times game, so far, where I'm thinking he has passed up good looks at the bucket.

Yea I'm a pretty sad panda about the numbers he's been putting up. With these numbers, I'm not sure he's going to make it.

This is a yong team and no one is going to draw the opposing coach's like JY, although, Ryan Wedel (RW to you Dawg Tired) is probably getting there.

Also, for this team to be most effective, the ball needs to move and shots need to come from the 4 and 5 spots, not just the wings. If this means JY needs to take a couple less shots then it is a credit to him to recognize it and be a great team player.

3 in a Row: 2007, 2008, 2009. Let's make it 4!

I noticed that too. I think he needs to concentrate on being a stand still shooter for awhile. that will open up some other things for him later.
