I'm thinking he'll get some rebounds. i also think the staff will work on rebounding after last season.

Don't pass up the shot.

I see 4 offensive rebounds for Rice in the game. He'll need to learn the Drake way. As soon as we shoot turn and run to set up the zone.

Stadx: Let's see, this year we had three guards under 5-11, a 6-5 1/2 power forward (who was awesome by the way) and a skinny 6-10 kid. Oh I almost forgot: we had a 6-5 sub at the center spot, who had never played center in his life. I am amazed rebounding was as good as it was.

I'd beat tail down the court too. With more size and athleticism comes more ability to rebound. I too hope offensive rebounding will be better, and I believe it will be.

NOTE: I'll be a 5th grade coach next year, so I'll be even "smarter" next year.

Hoosier, What was the excuse the year before? So you are basically saying we should just retreat after 1 shot & that is what Phelps is telling them? Rebounding can be taught, as Dr. Tom proved. His teams could always rebound, most of the times w/undersized teams.

Coach P's offensive rebounding scheme is not like Dr. Tom's, but that does not mean Coach P has no scheme or does not know how to teach rebounding. Every Big East and ACC school gets back on D the way Drake does on the 3's. When the shot is taken inside of 10', the 4 and 5 crash and the sometimes the 3, depending on where they are on the floor. Teams will make exceptions for a 2 who happens to have a knack for the boards, but you will never see 4 or 5 guys crash. The last two years Drake has started 3 small guards at the 1 -3 spots. There is no way on this planet Coach P will ever incorporate that type of size into his offensive rebounding scheme.

As far as the staff's working with the players, they did and they will. Look at Ben S. 6'7" but a horrible rebounder to start the year, never screened out, arms at side, stared at the ball. By the end of the year he was trying to screen out, he went after the ball, and even got his hands on a few. The change came about because of coaching. There's still a lot of work to do, he needs to get stronger, he needs to get his butt lower, he needs to get off the floor, and he needs stronger hands. I have no doubt the staff knows all of this and is working on it with him. Hopefully we'll see improvement next season.

You mean the incoming freshmen can't be expected to outrebound all the departing seniors?

You gotta love that, more conversation about our recruit than theirs.
We have an awsome class coming in. I can't wait to see them mix in with last years studs.

Awesome post by Goredbird54: "Went to the game last night, Tree looked really good. He had 14 points and about 6 rebounds. He is a big big man. Talked to him after the game, said he had a lot of fun and he will def be a good fit for ISU next year. He is a bit slow I think, so I hope that doesn't equate to a lot of fouls but I am sure Jank will work on his footwork and he will be a good fit for us. Here is some stats on other players... Rayvonte Rice going to Drake was by far the stud of the game, he is scary good. He was pulling up in people's face from wayyyy out and hitting. This kid is going to be a killer for DU."

I have two questions:

1. When did IlSU recruit "Tree" Rollins? (Is this his son, or grandson?)
2. Why does McB sock puppet on the IlSU board as goredbird54? (Or is this his barber?)
