| Hoopmasters is reporting that Drake is in the mix for this young man. Chanse Creekmur is a 6-6 (weight not reported) wing/small forward from Marshalltown. Other schools listed besides Drake are Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Washington State. He also plays on a AAU team, Net Gain Sports. There is also an article posted July 18th on Hoopmasters that lists him at 6-7.
"Creekmur has offers from Northern Iowa, Washington State, Indiana State, Creighton, Butler, Montana State, North Dakota State, Illinois State and picked up an offer from Iowa Wednesday after the tournament." http://www.hoopmasters.com/article.php?aid=1216427675&pid=1216427354

This kid sounds like a keeper.

| Mc Bulldog (7/20/2008) This kid sounds like a keeper.
So why isn't Drake listed as one of his offering schools?

| Why isn't Duke or Upper Iowa?
I'm pretty sure Drake will offer if they haven't already. Though I don't know this for sure .. I have a feeling this kid has really turned up his game this summer. Light bulb went on in a big way.

| Rumor on the Iowa message boards is that Creekmur has decommited from Iowa and has reopened his recruitment. Strictly rumor at this point. Also very strong rumors on the Iowa board that Jake Kelley is leaving the program.

| Looks like it is no longer a rumor. Here's a headline from Scout.com: "Chanse Creekmur is back on the market. The junior prospect decommitted from Iowa."

| This is from Rivals: "Promising 2010 prospect Chanse Creekmur of Marshaltown (Iowa) High School committed last August to the Iowa Hawkeyes, but Wednesday morning Creekmur informed the staff that he is opening up his recruitment.
“The family let Iowa know this morning that he is opening it up,” said Creekmur’s travel team coach Marquis Watts of Net Gain Sports. “It is a situation where he wants to look at his options. Iowa, as an in-state school is still on the list.”
Prior to committing to Iowa, Creekmur was being pursued by Arizona State, Creighton and Marquette amongst others, but he committed after having only visited Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa.
“Chanse just pulled the trigger too quick,” said Watts. “He feels he needs to know more about Iowa, and Iowa needs to know more about him. That is what the recruiting process is all about, and Chance doesn’t feel like he has fully gone through that process.”
Creekmur, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound wing player, averaged 16 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season.
His decommitment leaves Iowa with Cody Larson as their lone commitment out of the class of 2010."

| Back-to-back-to-back. I am definitely approaching McB territory on this thread.
It looks like Jake Kelley will be transferring to Indiana State. Also, rumors that more Hawks will be leaving. I refuse to gloat over this and sincerely hope that we don't hear of rumors regarding Drake players.

| Drakey (3/25/2009) Why would Kelly transfer to Indiana State?
He's from that area. I think his mother died recently, and he wants to be closer to his family.

| Back to back posts. I'm approaching GG territory
Creekmur sounded like a nice player, and I was disappointed when he committed to Iowa. Maybe Phelps can talk him into coming to Drake.

| Lol.
I'm not gloating, but I'm going to gloat because misery loves company. Hawkeyenation is in total melt down. Kelley's mom died and he wants to get closer to home, but there is all kinds of talk about Lick hate among the Hawk players. Peterson is said to be gone -- which decimates their guard court. Also, Jermaine Davis and maybe Palmer. When you add Freeman and Smith to the two-year list of transfers, and Creekmur's decommit, things don't look so bright for Lick's tenure. Some are calling for Barta's head as well. And they can forget that renovation of Carver.

Phelps may already be familiar with the Creekmur, so hopefully he goes after him. |

| As many already know, Creekmur backed out on his commitment to Santa Clara....it's possible he'll play football in college, rather than basketball.
This article from the DM Register says that somebody from Drake was watching him recently in a game vs WDM Valley. (scroll down toward the end of the article).
