Information about next year's MBB season tickets is about to be mailed.

Basically, there will be a $250.00 per seat license fee for all prime seats - middle three sections - in the lower bowl in addition to the cost of the ticket. The price of these tickets will be just under $250.00 each. So a person with four prime seats will pay $2000.00 this coming year compared to around $1250.00 last year.

Maybe if you had contributed more they wouldn't have raised the rate.

Don't worry DT, I'm sure Mecha has an extra seat by his radio.

So does this extra money go to the Bulldog Club? Are they dropping Bulldog Club contributions as a factor in choosing seats? My guess is there are a lot of people who will not renew at this price. Will those seats be made available to others? What if half the people don't renew, are they going to leave the bottom section half empty?

At present, Bulldog Club contributions are/were only a factor in the initial choice of seats. Once you got your seats, you could renew as many as you had by paying $250.00 and the price of the tickets. You could control one ticket or 20 tickets for $250.00 and the price of the tickets which just happens to be $250.00 per ticket.

Starting this fall, that system will change and you will have to pay $250.00 PER SEAT plus the price of the ticket - also $250.00 - to control your seats.

I too wonder if people will effectively pay $500.00 per ticket for premium seats. It might have been better to just concentrate on selling season tickets and trying to get to 5000 or so at regular prices and maybe raise the $250.00 "license fee" more gradually like maybe $50.00 or $100.00 a year assuming Drake remains competitive on the court. Then again, Sandy hasn't made too many mistakes so maybe she knows Drake fans better then I think. Maybe they will pay double or more for good seats.

OK, here is the seating chart. Are you saying that sections C, D, E, N, O, and P will be the only sections required to pay an extra $250 per seat? What about the rest of the seating?

Yes as to the $250.00 per seat but the new seating policy is more comprehensive than that. Those in certain other sections will have to pay lesser amounts. Overall, the new policy is designed to raise more dollars as opposed to selling more season tickets although based on the number of people who put down a deposit for tickets at the end of last season, I believe the athletic department is counting on the fact that there will be sufficient demand - even at increased prices- so that a lot more season tickets will be sold. As I said earlier, the key question is whether fans will pay $500.00 a seat for prime tickets. If they will - whether they are old or new ticket holders - the Knapp Center will be nearly full on a season ticket basis.

Oh, and although it pains me to say this, Gutrencher is going to have to pay a "license fee" for his preferred seat in Section R.

This certainly changes my plans to purchase a season ticket this year. I guess I will just have to continue buying my tickets one by one.
