She seems talented, but how long will she stay? It seems to me that she is school hopping often. That can't be good for recruiting, but she seems to do well with what she is given.

Stand up and Sing!

Here's to the one who wears the "D",
Makes a good fight for Varsity,
Here's to those who've fought and won,
Makes a good fight as a true Drake alum,
Here's to the one who's brave and bold,
Ready to battle like days of old,
Fights like a bulldog for victory!
Oh, here's to the one who wears the "D"!

Her announced salary is $160,000 per year; she's got a 5 year contract (which doesn't mean much any more). I can't imagine that she was making that at Murray State. Don't know how many kids from her squad at Murray State were coming back. But she had a heck of a record there, and if she can do the same at WSU, good for her. It'll help elevate the play in the MVC, and I'm all for that (in fact, I am all for elevating the level of play in women's college basketball, period.)

Anyway, here's some coverage from Kansas.com about the whole deal. http://www.kansas.com/news/updates/story/352840.html I haven't checked the KC Star this evening, but there might be a blurb there, too, even though their main college women's hoops writer, Mechelle Voepel, really focuses on the Big 12 and sometimes the national scene in her KC Star articles.

That's a tough one, from where Wichita's been the last few years. Anybody wanta speculate on where they'll move to next year?

Or anybody in the Valley? 'fraid that's a tough one, besides Cirone/Ill.St.. Tell ya what, though, Jacque Kalin impressed.

Some speculation on the Drake situation ... obviously, Plummer and Mo can play. So can Agee, but she'll have to score some points. Keizer could be a big step-up. Not so sure A. Brady won't be really good, too. What can Turk do? What is Lauren capable of?

Lots of possibilities there. Not sure exactly why, but I think Ashleigh Brady really steps up.

Yes, you are right about ISU. Illinois State returns most of its team and with Cirone, will be a hard team to beat next year. Still, I do wonder when Pingeton is going to leave. She has to be getting calls from other schools and I would sort of be surprised if the MVC is a destination conference for her. Maybe she will wait until the end of next season after Cirone graduates (and pray that Cirone stays healthy in the meantime)?

As for prospects for WSU, who we beat by only a bucket at the end of the season in Wichita, um, I would guess they end up in the middle of the pack in the Valley next season, some place around 5. But who knows? Bruce Budke inherited a team at OK State that had 3 Big 12 conference wins in 2006, and then had about 8 or 9 in 2007 and earned a trip to the NCAA's. This year, they are a Sweet Sixteen team, and unlike Oklahoma, for example, seem to be peaking at just the right time of the season. Really good coaches can flip teams pretty quickly under the right set of circumstances.

In the MVC, Kathi Bennett turned around a team very quickly at Evansville in the late 1990's. Milleson has made very good progress at MSU this year. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what Adams can do at WSU. $160k is a lot of jack (and that's not iher full package, I would bet); she'll be expected to produce some pretty good results in the not-too-distant future.

She hires an assistant from MSU. Does this conference have more coaching changes w/i the conference than others?

Adams goes from SIU via Murray State to WSU, then hires an assistant away from MSU.

SIU fills Adams void by hiring an assistant away from InSU.

Drake hires an assistant away from UNI.

UNI's new coach is a former assistant at Creighton.

Vaguely, in the back of my mind, I think one of EU's former assistants is now at another MVC school, too.

IlSU's Pingeton also has Drake ties, but that goes back and other stints in between make that hardly count.

That seems like and awful lot of staff swapping for one conference in a short period. Is there something about the MVC that makes us unique?

One theory is that it's right on the edge of the "big time", where there's lots more money and facilities and stuff to play with. Lots of jockeying to try to get there.
