Drake: We are hearing Lambuth University (TN) defensive coordinator Tom Allen accepted the defensive coordinator job at Drake University. Allen will replace Neal Neathery, who joined Larry Coker’s staff at UT-San Antonio.

Allen is a great coach....Creighton does not miss when he hires...

Perfect guy for Drake...and the need there right now...

I think CC is going with one of his former Wabash assistants, Tom Allen. Recently, Allen has been the DC for Lambuth University, an NAIA school in Tennessee.

I understand that Buddy Ryan is not currently employed. What d'ya say, Bears fans?

As Drake's new defensive coordinator, Ryan would fit right in with our Christian, family environment. He played his college ball at Oklahoma State, under Ears Whitworth (Google "Johnny Bright Incident"). Helluva guy. He would continue the tradition of senior citizen PFL defensive coordinators started by Dave Adolph.

Are you talking about UTSA interviewing other candidates? Or is Neathery's departure a done deal--so Drake is interviewing candidates (other than Jeter)?

I would love to see Matt Jetter get this position. I heard they are interviewing other candidates so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Jetter has been with these kids and has done a great job. My vote would be for him hands down.

A fan site for the new football program at Texas-San Antonio claims Neathery has interviewed for their DC position. UTSA recently signed its first recruits and will play its first season in 2011.
