I am also still in the mindset that we should work out some additional postseason games similar to the gridiron classic with lower level FCS/non-playoff FCS conferences. Realistically we will only get one bid to the playoffs, so our champion would be the only team to make it. What makes football meaningful for most DI schools is the possibility of postseason eligibility. <br><br><b>PFL Postseason Suggestions</b><br>1st place: FCS Playoffs (Host TBA) vs. TBA<br>2nd place: Citrus Bowl (Hosted By Florida A&M University) vs. SWAC<br>3rd place: Presidents Bowl (Hosted By Penn University) vs. Ivy<br>4th place: Harbor Bowl (Hosted By University of San Diego) vs. Big West<br>5th place: Gridiron Classic (Hosted By Jacksonville University) vs. Gridiron<br>6th place: Patriot Bowl (Hosted By Liberty University) vs. Big South<br><br>Six may be too many, but these are just suggestions. You obviously would not have big bowl payouts like FBS. The funds raised from gate/merchandize would go to pay the costs of teams traveling. Exceptions would be given to the host school if they qualify and they would play at home regardless of place. If you work it out right, at least 1/4 of the teams would be playing at home. I only figured out the PFL configuration, but all conferences involved would play each conference once like a mini tournament. But she publicly made the analogy that a PFL team in the playoffs would be like putting a I-AA team in the Rose Bowl. As recently as two years ago, you could find her quoted as saying PFL teams couldn't beat scholarship programs and shouldn't even schedule them. I find it hard to believe that the school presidents wanted their commissioner to say any of that.<br><br>Maybe she isn't "the" problem. With what they could pay they are only going to get someone who already has the job for another conference to do it. That will always come with the proviso that they work their full time job first.<br><br>Also, remember Patty V wasn't the problem in the past. She was doing what the institutions president's wanted her to do. Perhaps with the changes in membership their view has changed. Perhaps the failure of any sustainable D1 non-scholarship division to come to fruition has caused folks to re-evaluate how we should consider playoffs. Perhaps winning 3 of 4 Gridiron Classics and watching the NEC pick up an auto bid opened a few eyes.
