It is always a risk of injuries though.

RE: Summer League?

DT don't sell yourself short, I'm guessing one of the two options if more correct:

1. It took you much less than 34 seconds, or
2. It did take you 34 seconds, but you took a call on your cell phone during that time.

Either way you were well within the shot clock on that one. I just wish someone else could have spotted it prior to a summer league game.
RE: Summer League?

When Harrison Barnes played as a ninth grader...you could tell what he would become as a senior. It showcases talent. When Sean Jones played, I made the call in 34 seconds...maybe less.

RE: Summer League?

Summer League definitely showcases the aggressive and athletic scorers. (Rayvonte)

The "fundamental" players don't look very good. (Wiseler)

I think it's a lot of fun to watch. It's also good for the players to build relationships. (we got Al Stewart because of summer league)

RE: Summer League?

Summer league is fun to watch, and it's the first chance to see the new guys. It gives the guys a chance to scrimmage against other college players besides their teammates.

You can't read too much into it. You can see who's got quickness, who can shoot the ball, who's got hops, who's bulked up, etc. Other than that, you can't read too much into it. There's some individual defense being played, but no team defense at all. So, ability to score in summer league definitely doesn't always translate into an ability to score in a real game.

You can also tell that if a player looks completely overwhelmed in summer league games, it's probably not a good sign for their college career.

Summer League?

There's no question that summer league is fun to watch and probably helps players both develop and stay in shape, but......
Is it a good thing for the teams these players are a part of?
It seems that team basketball is almost non-existent in the early part of the season.
Some of the most interesting and fun to watch "stars" of summer league didn't seem to contribute all that much to their teams once some semblance of organization and team play was put in to place.

Just a thought.
