Will Wedel be the point or will it be Stanley with a 3-guard offense?

I think Wedel has to play point while Stanley comes off the bench; otherwise Simons would be the starting 4, which is pretty far out of position for him. Anyway, I think Phelps said that Stanley is hurt and won't start at the beginning of the year.

Good to see you're back BT. Hope you make it down for a few games; it's not like you'll be able to harvest any time soon anyway My father-in-law farms in NW Iowa, and he's only started getting into his fields.

OK l am back for another season. l can hardly wait to watch the games and then come here for everyones basketball knowledge. l hope the young bucks contribute and the upper classmen provide some leadership. As Gordon would say lets make another post season tourney.

BTW Gut l got some corn rows you could paddle. lts been a wet one all year.

Hope to get down for a game or 2 and see you guys at the West End.

With all the excitement and anticipation on the board the past few weeks for the upcoming season, it's interesting to read some of the past threads regarding Phelps, the players, etc. Check out the "REBUILDING" thread from seven months ago, after last season. It's interesting, in that it seems that most posters (myself included), started to conclude that even with the possible lack of experience that we would have this season, it could still be an improvement, talent wise. DUB said it might take a season or two, but it was going to be the beginning of good things. I agreed and even went one better, in that it might even be sooner. With all the talent that arrived this year and even more next year, the best is yet to come. The shooting and rebounding has got to be better. That alone should improve things. I also asked all the ticket holders who were going to give up their tickets and stop going to the games because of their dissatifaction with Phelps to hang in there because the kids deserved our support. It seems that the excitment for all our young guys and the returning players, who could only improve on last year, has brought that about. I hope to get back to Des Moines this season. I couldn't last year (although I was at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in June, '08). For the 47th year, I once again say, GO DOGS!!!

Great effort by the TD to cover the team, but there are way too many factual errors in the story (starting with the first two words of the caption at the top of the story). It's nice to see a few details no other media outlets have picked up on.

Sounds like it won't be the stiffest test, and while I miss the blue and white game, this scrimmage at least is against a D1 school and gives our new guys their first test of game action. I hope it goes well and proves to be a key building block on the way to a successful year.

I'm sorry to lose a chance to see the team play (especially the first chance of the year). I've heard a lot of coaches rave about playing in these closed scrimmages, though, so I hope the team can use this chance to improve. I know coaches are extremely limited about what they can say about these scrimmages, but hopefully we hear a few details. Lineups and playing time would be nice to know.

Even though it is closed and we won't get any details on stats, score, etc. I thought it would be a good time to start trying to get this board in regular season shape. So here's a few snippets from the UMKC basketball board:

Based on this quote it sounds to me like Drakey has a sock puppet on their board:

I began drinking at Peggy's on a fake ID in 1966. When I turned 21 in 1967 I couldn't celebrate in Peggy's, so a group of us went to the West End. I ordered a bourbon and water from the bartender (think his name may have been Frank) and we left shortly thereafter to go elsewhere. Five or six months later I walked into the West End, and Frank looked at me and said, "Bourbon and water?" Now, that's a good bartender.
