The Skyliners lost 1-3 in the quarterfinal of the BBL playoffs to Oldenburg, including former college stars like Arizona's Jason Gardner, Georgetown's Boumtje-Boumtje or Missouri's Rickey Paulding. A tough loss obviously, because the team had high ambitions to dig deep in the playoffs but Oldenburg was simply the better team and more experienced.

Adam's main task was to defend Gardner and he did a solid job on that. He averaged about 15mpg in the series.

I'm pretty sure that Adam will wrap up his first playoff expereince in his blog.

Concerning Adam's future, the Skyliners have the contractual option for having him on the 09/10 team again. It's not yet certain if they will take it.

Nonetheless, thank's Adam for a great season and have a nice summer!

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

dudistance, I've not heard anthing close to even a rumor about Adam coming back to play for the Energy. The last few games he's averaging about 22mpg. He's hitting the three pretty good as well, believe or not He is much more comfortable taking shots compared to the beginning of the season. He is 4-of-7 in the last 4 games from 3-point range. Obviously he has been working hard on his shot and it is paying off! Defensively he is still a beast. He is a much better defender than our starting point guard Pascal Roller and every time Adam is on the floor the team is able to step it up on defense.

The team instead is struggling a little bit recently. Having a record of 1-3 the last four games dropping to the sixth place in the standings. They are 4 wins in front of the ninth place (first non-playoff spot) and 2 games in the loss column behind the fourth place which means homecourt advantage in the playoffs. Unfortunately one week ago the team lost in the semifinals of the Top4 Tournament in Hamburg (german cup) to Alba Berlin, who won the cup later. Beating Dusseldorf the day after secured the third place for the team. It was somekind of a bitter sweet moment because the team was confident to win the whole thing.

One reason why it is not running well lately are several injuries the team has suffered. So the team hierarchy is put kind of upside down and in my opinion there is missing the one leader on the court. There are 10 games left in the regular season and the team has to step it up in order to reach one of the first 4 spots in the standings. They are now 15-9. If they are able to get back to their A-game everything is possible, even the championship.

Adam's currrent stats:

<a href="http://statistik.basketball-bundesliga.de/bbl/stats/player/index.php?team=426&saison=2008&spieler_id=10999" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://statistik.basketball-bundesliga.de/bbl/stats/player/index.php?team=426&saison=2008&spieler_id=10999

The next Skyliners' game will be on Sunday 5pm Frankfurt time. Should be 11am for you guys. The game will be televised. If you want to watch the game you should check some of the p2p websites. I'm pretty sure, that there will be some links available for that game. For example:

<a href="http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?&competitionid=&part=sports&discipline=basketball&allowedDays=1" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.myp2p.eu/competition.php?&competitionid=&part=sports&discipline=basketball&allowedDays=1

Btw, it was already posted on the board, but for those of you who don't already know: Adam has his own blog online now:

<a href="http://adamemmenecker.wordpress.com/" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://adamemmenecker.wordpress.com/

take care

steven

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Good for him! He led Frankfurt over Braunschweig in the 68-58 win and secured the first trip to the top4 tournament since 4 years for the Skyliners. He had 13points 5/5 2pts and 1/2 3pts, 3rebs and 2asts in 23 minutes of action.

Frankfurt trailed early 6-23 but came back in the second quater, closing the gap to 29-31. At the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter Frankfurt went on a 22 to zip run, whereby Adam made 11 of his team-high 13 points.

After the game he said:

"I had a couple of open looks and felt comfortable taking them. I've been struggeling shooting the ball so far this season but tonight I had a good rythm. It was just that kind of night where everything fit together. Adam is doing well so far. We're all very satisfied with his performance. Coach Didin lately stated: "Adam Emmenecker is a young point guard with a great outlook, who developed very well in Frankfurt."

He has not that important role he used to have in college, but he does a solid job in getting the ball up the court and the plays staretd. He is a excellent defender and rebounder for his size. Unfortunately his stats don't show his real performance. He does many things very well which are not covered by the stats.

Here his accumulated stats:

BBL: 12G; 16.53MPG; 2.2PPG; 4-11 2PFG; 0-11 3PFG; 2.3RPG; 1.3APG; .6 SPG; .7 TO
Eurochallenge: 8G; 9.5MPG; 1.6PPG; 1-4 2PFG; 3-4 3PFG; 1.0RPG;0.4APG

The Deutsche Bank Skyliners are very fortunate this season to have a deep and quality roster. Finishing this year at the 4 spot in the current standings they are a legit contender for the BBL championship and having a good chance reaching the next round in the fiba eurochallenge.

Happy holidays and merry christmas to everyone.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Hope Steven can shed some light on this, but it looks like the Skyliners tied a game the other day. In the last roadgame on saturday Adam had 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the overtime win. During his first 5 games in the Bundesliga he became one of the best rebounding guards in the league, averaging 4.2 boards per game. Yet we're still waiting for his first 3-pointer in the Bundesliga But he already scored two three's in the first two eurochallenge games.

Tonight 7.30pm frankfurt time, 12.30pm in Des Moines, Skyliners are facing Antalya in the second round of the eurochallenge.

If some of you are interested in watching Adam you can watch the game per live-stream and for free on this website:

<a href="http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/

Adam is expected to play about 20 minutes.

Enjoy!

Take care.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

It looks like Emmenecker is still playing pretty well.

He made a few plays and had 9 rebounds as his team won

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Hi everybody,

a little update on how Adam is doing in Frankfurt so far.

Last weekend, Skyliners lost to Ulm 63:66. An unfortunate loss because the skyliners were the dominat team for three quarters, leading by 7 points at halftime. They failed to close out the game due to lack of concentration and weak rebounding, allowing Ulm a lot of second chance points. Adam played 19 minutes had 1 rebound and 1 assist, took no shot. Even though he had two good looks from behind the 3-point line. But he fulfilled his tasks on both ends of the floor and was a solid leader.

Yesterday the Skyliners played in Ukraine against Nikolajew or so, in the first round of the Eurochallenge. Skyliners won 75:68. Adam played 17 minutes, had 8 points (1/2 2P FG; 2/2 3P FG ) 3 rebounds and 2 assists. I didn't have the opportunity to see anything of the game, but the stats speak for themselves I guess.

Adam is more and more becoming a worthy addition to the skyliners game. He is a very focused and hard-working defender. In offense he is a quick and intelligent distributor who already seems to have got accustomed to the plays and implements coache's demands very well.

Before Adam's arrival the skyliners always had trouble when Roller, the starting point guard took a rest. There was always a breach in the skyliners' game. Adam has already shown that he is able to solve this problem. In my opinion, Adam is a better defender than Roller but Roller the better scorer. I hope that Adam will increase his scoring a little bit in the course of time. But so far we are very content with his performance.

Next game is on Saturday at home against Goettingen.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

<a href="http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081003/SPORTS020403/81003035/-1/NEWS04" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081003/SPORTS020403/81003035/-1/NEWS04

There's a Register blurb on his appearance.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

As elready mentioned in the last two posts, Skyliners won 65-55 at home against Icebears Bremerhaven. To all a surprise Adam started at the point guard sport aside Pascal Roller. A great tactic move by Headcoach Didin as iti turned out later. Adam did everything the Skyliners were hoping to find in him. He did a great job on defending the Bremerhaven point guard, as well as finding the open man on the other end of the floor, resulting in 2 assists. He also rebounded well, catching 5 on the defensive end. But the nurmbers don't really display his great performance in 25 minutes of action. He is an excellent and hard working defender and always has an eye for the open man. With Adam in the game the Skyliners showed great ballmovement and quick defensive rotation. Adam, only since 5 days back in practice, already seems to be an important part of the Skyliners rotation.

Pascal Roller complimented him on his firts game: "He is a huge enrichment for our team. He is the kind of player who makes everybody around him better. To me Adam's arrival is very worthwile. I will be able to cut my minutes and the team has a quality back up pointguard. Even when we are both on the court, it is much easier for me, because helps me a lot."

---------------------

To me personally, Adam had a great debut. He started, played 25 minutes. Had 2ast/5reb, attempted one 3-pointer ;-) and the foot was good. But beside the numbers Adam shined in his unselfishness, sharing the ball and showing great commitment on the defensive end.
Keep it up, Adam!

Pictures:
<a href="http://www.sidjabat.de/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=30&g2_itemId=26066&g2_page=1" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.sidjabat.de/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=30&g2_itemId=26066&g2_page=1

stats:
<a href="http://www.basketball-bundesliga.de/scouting.php?menuid=329&topmenu=3&keepmenu=inactive&wettbewerb=1&spiel_id=5922" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.basketball-bundesliga.de/scouting.php?menuid=329&topmenu=3&keepmenu=inactive&wettbewerb=1&spiel_id=5922

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/?p=318

I can't read German, but it looks like he had 5 rebouds and 2 assists in 25 minutes of action. (2nd to last paragraph)

Let us know when he hits a 3 pointer.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

It's a slow day at work. After catching up on posts of the past week, I thought I would check how Adam did. I found this:

Deutsche Bank Skyliners break Eisbren Ballsporthalle Jinx With 65 To 55 Win - Oct 2, 2008 (by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber)

THE DEUTSCHE BANK SKYLINERS only had four days to recuperate from the thrilling win in Cologne, but managed an overall fine effort controlling the game and winning for the first time at home in the 2008-2009 season with a 65 to 55 win against The Eisbren Bremerhaven. The enthusiastic crowd of 4,390 saw a game of Skyliner power Basketball, as the fans were able to celebrate a win into the German reunion holiday. It marked the debut of new Skyliner American Adam Emmenecker, who didntt score, but did a fine job rebounding and showing his aggressive energy. I am pretty happy with my performance. It didnt really show in the stats, but I brought a lot of energy and tried to get people in position to succeed, explained Adam Emmenecker. Frankfurt won its second game in a row moving to 2-1. The Eisbren Bremerhaven lost their second game in a row and move to 1-2 in the standings. It was the second game in a row, that Bremerhaven shot miserably from three point land. They were a bit better shooting 7/25 against Frankfurt, because against Dsseldorf it was even worse at 5/29. At a combined 12/54 in two games from three point land, coach Sarunas Sakalauskas might want to rent NBA legend Larry Bird for some three point training. It was a game, where nothing went right for the Eisbren. Frankfurt simply outplayed us. They had more energy than we did and their defense was very strong. We missed too many free throws and for the second game in a row were cold from outside, commented American Marcus Slaughter.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Thanks for the updates, Steven.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

One day before his first professional basketball game in germany, Adam talks about his return to practice and the upcoming game in a frankfurt newspaper:

"After more than 4 weeks of injury, to me the game seems faster than before. But the first practices went quite well. It's getting better from day to day. 2 Days before my first game here in germany I'm not that nervous yet. But it all seems very surreal to me. I'm happy to play with Pascal Roller. There are so many things I can learn from him"

Even though Adam has only a contract until the end of october, Skyliners' director of sports Kamil Novak is assuming that he will probably stay with the Skyliners until the end of the season.

----------------------

I'll try to give you a little game resume of tomorrow's game by the end of the week, with a closer look on AE of course. Maybe there's a possibility for you guys to see the game per internet stream. I'll have to search for a stream and hopefully be able to post a link tomorrow, if anyone is interested. Tipoff is tomorrow 8pm local time here in germany. That's 1pm for you guys in Des Moines.

take care.
