Adam is doing well so far. We're all very satisfied with his performance. Coach Didin lately stated: "Adam Emmenecker is a young point guard with a great outlook, who developed very well in Frankfurt."

He has not that important role he used to have in college, but he does a solid job in getting the ball up the court and the plays staretd. He is a excellent defender and rebounder for his size. Unfortunately his stats don't show his real performance. He does many things very well which are not covered by the stats.

Here his accumulated stats:

BBL: 12G; 16.53MPG; 2.2PPG; 4-11 2PFG; 0-11 3PFG; 2.3RPG; 1.3APG; .6 SPG; .7 TO
Eurochallenge: 8G; 9.5MPG; 1.6PPG; 1-4 2PFG; 3-4 3PFG; 1.0RPG;0.4APG

The Deutsche Bank Skyliners are very fortunate this season to have a deep and quality roster. Finishing this year at the 4 spot in the current standings they are a legit contender for the BBL championship and having a good chance reaching the next round in the fiba eurochallenge.

Happy holidays and merry christmas to everyone.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Hope Steven can shed some light on this, but it looks like the Skyliners tied a game the other day. In the last roadgame on saturday Adam had 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists in the overtime win. During his first 5 games in the Bundesliga he became one of the best rebounding guards in the league, averaging 4.2 boards per game. Yet we're still waiting for his first 3-pointer in the Bundesliga But he already scored two three's in the first two eurochallenge games.

Tonight 7.30pm frankfurt time, 12.30pm in Des Moines, Skyliners are facing Antalya in the second round of the eurochallenge.

If some of you are interested in watching Adam you can watch the game per live-stream and for free on this website:

<a href="http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/

Adam is expected to play about 20 minutes.

Enjoy!

Take care.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

It looks like Emmenecker is still playing pretty well.

He made a few plays and had 9 rebounds as his team won

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Hi everybody,

a little update on how Adam is doing in Frankfurt so far.

Last weekend, Skyliners lost to Ulm 63:66. An unfortunate loss because the skyliners were the dominat team for three quarters, leading by 7 points at halftime. They failed to close out the game due to lack of concentration and weak rebounding, allowing Ulm a lot of second chance points. Adam played 19 minutes had 1 rebound and 1 assist, took no shot. Even though he had two good looks from behind the 3-point line. But he fulfilled his tasks on both ends of the floor and was a solid leader.

Yesterday the Skyliners played in Ukraine against Nikolajew or so, in the first round of the Eurochallenge. Skyliners won 75:68. Adam played 17 minutes, had 8 points (1/2 2P FG; 2/2 3P FG ) 3 rebounds and 2 assists. I didn't have the opportunity to see anything of the game, but the stats speak for themselves I guess.

Adam is more and more becoming a worthy addition to the skyliners game. He is a very focused and hard-working defender. In offense he is a quick and intelligent distributor who already seems to have got accustomed to the plays and implements coache's demands very well.

Before Adam's arrival the skyliners always had trouble when Roller, the starting point guard took a rest. There was always a breach in the skyliners' game. Adam has already shown that he is able to solve this problem. In my opinion, Adam is a better defender than Roller but Roller the better scorer. I hope that Adam will increase his scoring a little bit in the course of time. But so far we are very content with his performance.

Next game is on Saturday at home against Goettingen.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

<a href="http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081003/SPORTS020403/81003035/-1/NEWS04" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081003/SPORTS020403/81003035/-1/NEWS04

There's a Register blurb on his appearance.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

As elready mentioned in the last two posts, Skyliners won 65-55 at home against Icebears Bremerhaven. To all a surprise Adam started at the point guard sport aside Pascal Roller. A great tactic move by Headcoach Didin as iti turned out later. Adam did everything the Skyliners were hoping to find in him. He did a great job on defending the Bremerhaven point guard, as well as finding the open man on the other end of the floor, resulting in 2 assists. He also rebounded well, catching 5 on the defensive end. But the nurmbers don't really display his great performance in 25 minutes of action. He is an excellent and hard working defender and always has an eye for the open man. With Adam in the game the Skyliners showed great ballmovement and quick defensive rotation. Adam, only since 5 days back in practice, already seems to be an important part of the Skyliners rotation.

Pascal Roller complimented him on his firts game: "He is a huge enrichment for our team. He is the kind of player who makes everybody around him better. To me Adam's arrival is very worthwile. I will be able to cut my minutes and the team has a quality back up pointguard. Even when we are both on the court, it is much easier for me, because helps me a lot."

---------------------

To me personally, Adam had a great debut. He started, played 25 minutes. Had 2ast/5reb, attempted one 3-pointer ;-) and the foot was good. But beside the numbers Adam shined in his unselfishness, sharing the ball and showing great commitment on the defensive end.
Keep it up, Adam!

Pictures:
<a href="http://www.sidjabat.de/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=30&g2_itemId=26066&g2_page=1" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.sidjabat.de/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=30&g2_itemId=26066&g2_page=1

stats:
<a href="http://www.basketball-bundesliga.de/scouting.php?menuid=329&topmenu=3&keepmenu=inactive&wettbewerb=1&spiel_id=5922" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.basketball-bundesliga.de/scouting.php?menuid=329&topmenu=3&keepmenu=inactive&wettbewerb=1&spiel_id=5922

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.tv/?p=318

I can't read German, but it looks like he had 5 rebouds and 2 assists in 25 minutes of action. (2nd to last paragraph)

Let us know when he hits a 3 pointer.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

It's a slow day at work. After catching up on posts of the past week, I thought I would check how Adam did. I found this:

Deutsche Bank Skyliners break Eisbren Ballsporthalle Jinx With 65 To 55 Win - Oct 2, 2008 (by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber)

THE DEUTSCHE BANK SKYLINERS only had four days to recuperate from the thrilling win in Cologne, but managed an overall fine effort controlling the game and winning for the first time at home in the 2008-2009 season with a 65 to 55 win against The Eisbren Bremerhaven. The enthusiastic crowd of 4,390 saw a game of Skyliner power Basketball, as the fans were able to celebrate a win into the German reunion holiday. It marked the debut of new Skyliner American Adam Emmenecker, who didntt score, but did a fine job rebounding and showing his aggressive energy. I am pretty happy with my performance. It didnt really show in the stats, but I brought a lot of energy and tried to get people in position to succeed, explained Adam Emmenecker. Frankfurt won its second game in a row moving to 2-1. The Eisbren Bremerhaven lost their second game in a row and move to 1-2 in the standings. It was the second game in a row, that Bremerhaven shot miserably from three point land. They were a bit better shooting 7/25 against Frankfurt, because against Dsseldorf it was even worse at 5/29. At a combined 12/54 in two games from three point land, coach Sarunas Sakalauskas might want to rent NBA legend Larry Bird for some three point training. It was a game, where nothing went right for the Eisbren. Frankfurt simply outplayed us. They had more energy than we did and their defense was very strong. We missed too many free throws and for the second game in a row were cold from outside, commented American Marcus Slaughter.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Thanks for the updates, Steven.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

One day before his first professional basketball game in germany, Adam talks about his return to practice and the upcoming game in a frankfurt newspaper:

"After more than 4 weeks of injury, to me the game seems faster than before. But the first practices went quite well. It's getting better from day to day. 2 Days before my first game here in germany I'm not that nervous yet. But it all seems very surreal to me. I'm happy to play with Pascal Roller. There are so many things I can learn from him"

Even though Adam has only a contract until the end of october, Skyliners' director of sports Kamil Novak is assuming that he will probably stay with the Skyliners until the end of the season.

----------------------

I'll try to give you a little game resume of tomorrow's game by the end of the week, with a closer look on AE of course. It's big.. "really big".. just like all those really big shots Adam in the Bulldog's magical MVC Championship Season of 2008. Start with our huge tenderloin, add our Angus steak burger, top it with a slab of Texas brisket and apple wood bacon, finish it with buffalo chicken tender, smother this mountain with melted cheddar cheese, and white cheddar sauce, serve it with your favorite choice of side. This could hurt you! A sandwich fit for the MVP. 19.95

<a href="http://www.jethrosdesmoines.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60&Itemid=55" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.jethrosdesmoines.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=60&Itemid=55

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

My daughter told me some bar in DM had an Emmenecker shot. As expected Adam won't be able to participate on the Skyliners' season opener on Sunday vs. Bonn due to his injury. But he is confident to return to practice next week. Two weeks earlier than expected. The healing proceeds very well and he has no pain pain anymore walking and even a little jogging is possible. But the foot still hurts when he puts pressure on it.

We're looking forward to see Adam get back on the court on september 28th, when the Skyliners are facing Cologne on their first road game of the 08/09 season. Hopefully his foot will endure the first week of real practice after three weeks of injury.

Until next week. Take care.
Steven

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

Thanks Steven! I'm from Frankfurt, Germany and a huge Fan of the Deutsche Bank Skyliners Frankfurt.

I was looking for some information about Adam Emmenecker who, as you already know, is close to be our new back-up pointguard for the upcoming Bundesliga season 08/09, starting on september 21st, and ended up on this very website. Emmenecker is supposed to be the back-up for our franchise player Pascal Roller, who you might have seen during the Olympics in Beijing, trying hard to compete against JKidd, CP3 or D-Williams at the point. He was the little pointguard with the bald head, wearing #11. He is the face of the Skyliners and the head of the team for 8 years. AE was acquired to relieve Roller and to give him some rest. AE is expected to play 15 to 20 minutes per game. For those of you who are interested in AE's first steps of his professional basketball career, I will try to uptade you every week how he is doing and progressing.

Actually his start was quite disappointing. Not because of his skills or his attitude. Yet, he only took part in two of eleven preseason games. In his first game you could obviously see, that he has yet problems to adjust to european basketball, having quite a few turnovers and trouble getting the ball pushed up the court and getting the systems started. Despite that, he made a good impression on both, coaches and fans, being a pass-first pointguard with a hard drive to the basket. He seemed to the one point-guard, the Skyliners were looking for.

Unfortunately, shortly after his first game he had strained adductors (hope you know what I mean?) and was out for the next few games.

From august 28th to 30th the skyliners attended a preseason tournament in Bremen, Germany. They actually won this tournament beating for example former turkish champion and euroleague participant Galatasaray Instanbul, but had a huge personal loss in Adam Emmenecker, who landed akwardly on his opponent's foot, going for a rebound. He suffered a torn outer ankle ligament (is that translated correctly?) and is out for the next 4 weeks and will miss the season opener on september 21st. Despite that he made a great performance on the floor, especially on the defensive end. Also showig his courtvision by distributing the ball very well.

Nevertheless the Skyliners management trust in Emmenecker, giving him a contract until the end of october, hoping he will recover soon.

Director of sport, Kamil Novak, is very convinced of Emmenecker's abilities and hopes he will fulfill the expectaions.

The journlists of the daily newspapers here in Frankfurt quoted Emmenecker lately:

"The Deutsche Bank Skyliners are a great organisation, the medicale care is brilliant and the training conditions are first-class. The team is really great."

The past few days the Skyliners attended another preseason tournament in Antalya, Turkey. Emmenecker: "Eventhough I'm hurt, Coach Didin (who is turkish by the way) wanted me to travel with the team to Turkey, spending time with the team and working hard in the rehab. I think that's a good sign to make the team and spend the rest of the season with the Skyliners."

As the team returned from Antalya yesterday, facing another preparation-game this evening, Emmenecker traveled to Istanbul, getting another opinion on his injury by the doctor of the turkish national soccer team, which is a close friend of Skyliners Headcoach Didin. It seems that the Skyliners really care about Emmenecker and do want him on the roster for the upcoming season.

If you want to see some pictures of AE, here's the hp of the Skyliners photographer:

www.sidjabat.de

see "Galerien" on the left and klick "DBS Games" and select a Game.

And here are some pics from the tournament in Bremen:

http://www.sidjabat.de/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=30&g2_itemId=22831&g2_page=6

I hope you enjoy reading about AE, and you're not offended by my bad english. I try to update as soon as possible, if you want to.

take care.

greetings from Frankfurt, Germany!

steven

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

“Adam has our expectations far übetroffen”

I think the same can be said by all Drake fans...maybe that should be a T-shirt or something this year?

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

He's listed on the roster now.

RE: Adam Emmenecker in Germany

not yet on official roster :-(
http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.de/team.html
picture
http://www.deutsche-bank-skyliners.de/7907.html
