This newspaper writer breaks down the candidates for all-state honors in North Carolina. Here's what she says about Jeffers:

Averaged 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Shot 42 percent from 3-point range. Scored 1,000 points in two seasons. NCISAA All-State 1-A pick. All-conference and all-league tournament selection. MVP of Greenfield Christmas Tournament with 31 points and 15 rebounds. All-area first-team pick by The Wilson Times for two straight seasons. Signed with Drake.

Dang ... thanks DUBulldog. I'm laughing but it almost brought a tear to my eye. WOW !!! ... the only problem is we'll have to say good bye to him in 5 years. Congrats to Coach Phelps on landing a young man that I know is going to be great.

Jeffers has been reevaluated by ESPN.com.

They bumped him up from an 88 rating to an 89!

December, 2009: Jeffers is a long wing with a smooth stroke from behind the arc. The left-hander, who scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a win over Southern Wayne (GlaxoSmithKline Invitational), has upside and is a great pick up for Drake as his size and skill level are what the top teams in the MVC possess on the perimeter. He showed that he is a good offensive rebounder using his length and timing to his advantage while turning missed shots into scoring opportunities for his team. He can get to the rim from the perimeter off of 2 or 3 dribbles and showed a nice feel passing the ball, but is left hand dominant and will need to improve playing with his weak hand. He is a solid defender that understands positioning and effective in the press on the ball or in traps; as he gets stronger he should be able to guard multiple positions.

Jeffers had a career-high 31 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in an 83-78 win over Flora MacDonald in the championship game of the Greenfield Christmas Tournament. Jeffers was named tournament MVP. Flora MacDonald was #2 in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A poll, and Jeffers's Greenfield team was #5 in the same poll.

First team all state in a sport he is playing part time is huge. Now he can concentrate on B-Ball full time. Jeffers sounds like he has unlimited potential.
