Looks like the Register took the link down. Here is one from 1700 the Champ...

All Star Game

According to this one, the game is tonight, 7:30 at Valley High School. Tickets are $6 at the door.

The Register article said something about a girls' game also, but no mention in the Champ's link.

If you're going, I'd probably call over to Valley first to make sure the details are correct.

Welfringer had 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 66-60 win over Valley in the substate final. They start play in the state tournament on Wednesday against Iowa City West.

Based on what I have read on this board about him, I also was surprised with ESPN's 1 star rating. Their written evaluation was a little better. For a local comparison, Valley junior Kale Abrahamson, playing the same position as Judd, is rated a 2 star right now. With another year in high school left he could possibly move to a 3 star next year.

From what I have read it looks like this kid is putting up decent numbers. I am wondering if he is the type of kid who will be able to make any type of an impact as a freshman. Since I have not seen him play, it worries me that he is ranked so low on espn recruiting.

Just talked to 3 Roosevelt players outside the school and asked them what they thought of Judd. "He's a beast, man.", "He's really dope, real good", "Cool Dude too", "yeah ... that boy's got it going on" ... I think they not only like him as player, but as a friend too.

Wasn't pulling for Judd last night. The RoughRiders are REAL young .. kinda like our beloved Bulldogs. They have a great player in soph. Jok, who scored 22 points last night. They have two other good players in soph. Chris Bennett who is a 6-6 forward, and senior Sam Norman who is prolly 6-6 also. Roosevelt is weak in the back court right now, those players are just not mature enough at this point. Ton of kids at Roosevelt that are great players who either just don't play or don't get the grades to play.

Looks like while DU was putting the hurt on CU last night, Judd was doing the same against North...

From the Register:

He also walked into the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry among his new friends.

"I tend to stay in the middle," Welfringer said. "I tend to be a fan of whomever I'm hanging out with."

Hopefully that changes once he arrives at 25th/University; D (in my opinion) is the only school he s/b a fan of regardless of who he is hanging with. I use that approach and it works well

I've been told by people I know and trust that Judd is the real deal. Great shooter and a great basketball IQ. He makes his teammates better and just has that winning knack about him. They had an article about him the Register about 2 weeks ago and I don't think anyone posted a link. John Naughton or whatever his name is wrote it. Here ... I looked it up - link

That's the most recent result I found (from last week). Welfringer had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-43 win over Fort Dodge.

I believe the rag had an article on Judd earlier this year where his coach (Matt Woodley) saidthat was one of the things he said Judd needed to improve on so he would be able to play right away in college. I don't know how that has come along, but he at least is aware that he needs to focus on it so he will be able help the team.
