BB you are delving into a mystery that has puzzled this board for some time. Look back to posts from last summer and early fall and you'll see people trying to figure out the scholarship count. We won't hear anything out of the coaching staff until things become official, such as a player announcing he is leaving or the NCAA approving a medical redshirt, etc. so it will probably be a while before anyone knows for sure. That being said, rumors have been flying around for a while about one player or another. With the two most recent signings being guards, some might think a scholarship situation involving a current guard will change.

tried to find the med rule and some web sites stated 20% rounded up. My question is do the Cornell and UCSD games count against him since they don't count for D1 wins. That leaves him at 6.2 with a 20%. but 7.7 with a 25% rule. so if those two don't count he is either limited to 7 or 8 depending on the rule and he would have played in 8.

Anyone who knows the rule for sure or Whites status, I would like to know.

I think the rule is that you can't play in more than 25% of your team's games....he definitely exceeded that.

Interesting stuff on the ASU board. Most really liked the kid, the usual crappers because he's leaving, but they all like his shooting and work ethic and say he is a great kid. The only Knock was his defense and quickness. And who knows what that really means. said he is good at creating shot opportunities and assists. Sounds like a winner. Put him on a better team with good support and my guess is the 3pt % goes up along with his assists.

Of the current roster, can anyone id the kids on scholarship? I am assuming Ryan Wedel will be a schol player, Jones and Vlastuin, and Stanley. At this point wendell Faines is a myth. So unless someone is leaving or Ryan is taking an academic ride for a year we are short one.

but regardless, of the kids listed other than the seniors who is on scholarship?

Here is Wedel's Bio from the ASU website. It says he was recruited by a couple MVC schools out of high school.

Here is a thread about his transfer from an ASU message board. They're not happy to see him leave. They make it sound like he has three-point range to 30-feet, which would let him fit in nicely with the things Drake did last year.

This looks like a very good get. He was third team all conference in the Sun Belt. He hit WKU for 23. My kind of guy.

I like any kid who's capable of scoring 25 points in 2 minutes....I don't care what level it was at. That's the kind of player who can get you back into a game in a big hurry.

If he's on scholarship, he would count toward the scholarship limit even during his redshirt year. But, based on your other info, it's possible that he'll be on academic scholarship, rather than athletic scholarship. I do remember seeing him on ESPN a few years ago.

Is there confirmation of this signing somewhere on the web?
