Your right DUB, it makes no sense. The coach sounds like he is trying to pump up his program either that or something was lost in translation. Why didn't the kid call up K(the new one who shall not be named) and go to PU(the university that shall not be named). And if the Junior who has interest from UNI and ILL st, is that good why would we give a look to Fernando?

Well, since the first day players could sign a letter of intent was a few days after Keno left for Providence, we know this is b.s. He could not have signed a letter of intent. Since we know that the first paragraph of the article is b.s., I'm going to assume the rest of the article is too.

I'm guessing that any potential walk-ons that were being recruited by the previous staff are off the radar for now.

I would agree based on the situation, if TF had come to Drake even as a Sophmore and had time to buy into the system and mesh with the players he could have been valuable.

You are probably right about him not coming to Drake. It is a longshot. I have seen a lot of predictions that he will follow Alford to New Mexico anyway.

But, it would be nice to have at least another scoring option after Bucky graduates. Younger guys may end up being better, but Freeman is pretty much a known quantity.

Even this year, it would have been nice to have a guy like this that could have come off the bench to go in for Emmenecker, Young, or Houston. In particular, it would have been nice to play more than 2 subs very briefly in the 2nd half and overtime against WKU. Maybe Emmenecker would have shot a little better than 0-10 if we would have gotten more rest.

Its just amazing how the fans at Iowa and Drake and the coach at Iowa are all so dumb not to recognize the superior talent and attitude of this young man and open the door for him with 2years of ED for one year of play. He obviously would have been the difference vs W.Kentucky with his 1-1 assist to TO ratio and his outstanding 37% FG %, considering no one believes he can handle preasure situations. Im sure he would come right in and in 1 season pick up the system and meld with the team! Oh wait I guess he didn't do that at Iowa. I think Mr. Alford should be the one to take advantage of this stellar one year wonder who can lift his program to the hieghts of the NCAA tourny. And considering New Mexico isn't a Big10 superschool like Iowa all the players should be personally gratefull to TF for him to even consider stepping to such a lowly BB rung. They should probably promise him the team captain position as an inticement to go to NM as that seams to be one of his big motivations.

I have to ask, was TF 3rd string all big ten becuase he was the leading scorer? Did every big ten team put someone on that list?

I would suggest Alford buys extra balls though as this kid seems to have a habit of taking his and going home.

Who knows about Fernando, numbers sound lousy, if hes a foreign 7'r who never played before id probably let him walk on after a prep year and go from there. If TF wanted to walk on as a Senior and play a roll that would be ok too, but all indications are that isn't what he TF wants.

I can't really see how Freeman with one year of eligibility would help Drake. He would have to be a backup off-guard and I'm sure he is not interested in that. He'll probably go D2 with only one year of eligibility.

This says that Drake is interested in Fernando Troya. In fact, it says that he signed a letter of intent to play for Drake, but reconsidered after Keno left. Troya is a 6-7 senior at Bolingbrook High School in the Chicago area. He averaged just under 4 points and 4 rebounds last year, so I'm guessing that if he signed anything it was a not-so-official letter of intent to walk on at Drake. He's originally from Ecuador, and will return there for a year and treat his time like a prep school year.

This story also mentions a couple of his teammates that could be prospects. The best is Troy Snyder, a junior 6-6 forward who averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds last year. He's heard from other MVC schools and his coach says his academics are "stellar."
