I just don't give a shat if we play Simpson the last game before conference play. It always amazes me how people love to batch. Man up and act like ya have set!

I for one don't care who we play. Yes, I want there to be some quality teams in there so we can learn our weaknesses, learn from other teams, and get an idea of how well we face challenges. We are playing some good teams, we're also playing some not so good teams, either way I am just excited to see us play, see what this team can do. With that said, there are plenty of times we're the crappy team that the good team is complaining about having to play. We need to pay our dues and work our way back up, in every way.

I should amend that slightly, I do care who we play but I'm happy with the current schedule and the teams we'll be playing. So it's more of not caring about this schedule too much rather than not caring at all. I obviously want there to be a good mix of teams in there for us to learn from.

But I can't get excited about the whimpy schedule at home.

This schedule is good for now. I'm not sure we're ready for any pre-season big games at home. Once the Valley schedule kicks in, we'll be facing just about all we can handle at home. Next year's out of conference schedule will be better. No doubt.

But I can't get excited about the whimpy schedule at home. It might not be exactly what the home crowd wants, but I think it's best for the development of this team. Coach has how many players with two or more years of Division 1 basketball experience? Three (Ricks, Madison and Daniels)... and you'll probably never see all of them on the court at the same time. The other five, Rutter, JEJ, Danielak (half of a season), Berkeley and Caird, enter with one or less. Add five Freshmen, and you have a very inexperienced team. That being said, I think the returning players should be very competitive on the road, allowing the new guys the opportunity to get some playing time. The following year, Drake will have a more competitive home schedule (DePaul, maybe Creighton) with a seniorless team; Abrahamson, JEJ, Danielak leading eight guys with one year of Division 1 experience, or less. Depending how this Freshmen class develops, they can schedule up (BCS, upper Mid-Majors). You never know, but I'm thinking the three games in Nashville (Valpo-155, Portland-114, Mur. St- 142) weigh better in the RPI than the three in Fresno last year (Fresno (112), N Arizona (253)/ Bakersfield (243). Some schools do two exhibitions games at the beginning of the year. Simpson doesn't excite anybody, however, bringing in another Jackson St. will only hurt the RPI. "Coach Giac knows Jack". He said one step at a time, and I think that includes the schedule.

Technically Ricks doesn't even have two years of D1 experience, either.

we're talking RPI like it's gonna be the life and death if we don't get to the tournament...get a low RPI team and get the Win. Simpson doesn't do anything except excite 1000 people.

If it does come into play, I'm pretty sure our 250 average RPI home schedule is going to hurt more than playing a D-1 cupcake versus Simpson.

RPI/non conf SOS matters when it comes to tie breakers for avoiding Thursday more than anything, because darn it Drake is NOT playing on Thursday this year... But really, it is simply something for stat junkies like myself to monitor.

Don't schedule too many bottom-feeders since I'm pretty sure the conference looks down on that and would make D pay for it.

Looking forward to the last piece of our complete schedule being released. It's funny how even though we know who we'll be playing the real excitement builds only after a complete schedule is released. Anticipation...

Bored waiting on Drake
12/31 Wichita
1/3 @ Mo State
1/7 @ Illinois State
1/10 No Iowa
1/17 Indiana State
1/20 Illinois State
1/25 @ Wichita
1/28 @ Bradley
1/31 Evansville
2/4 So Illinois
2/7 @ No Iowa
2/11 Bradley
2/14 @ Indiana State
2/17 @ Evansville
2/22 Mo State
2/28 @ So Illinois
Drake and Loyola the only to not announce. D and L play 1/14 (could be 1/13 I guess) and 2/25. Assuming the 1/14 game is on the road otherwise we'd be looking at four straight home games.
