Nothing much in the article, just that DU opens with Butler on November 15 and then plays in a tournament in Cancun.

The article made it sound like there would be two home games for Drake as part of that Cancun tourney before they went to Mexico at the end of November. With Butler on the 15th and the tournament on the 29th, it could be there will be two Knapp Center games between those two dates. So much for the players' Thanksgiving break.

more details about the Cancun tournament:

University of New Mexico men’s basketball coach Steve Alford says he’s still trying to finish the Lobos’ nonconference schedule, but that the November portion — including a game against Virginia Commonwealth in Cancun — is ready to go.
Alford says, “We’re still looking for one more home game to complete the schedule,” and he hopes to have that done soon. In the meantime, he says, “We’re excited that we have finalized our opponents for the Cancun tournament.”
The Lobos will face VCU on Nov. 27 and Drake or Vanderbilt two days later in Cancun.
Drake and Vandy meet Nov. 27. The winner of that game plays the winner of the UNM/VCU game Nov. 29. The losers from the first day play each other two days later.
The Lobos also play home games against Grambling (Nov. 20) and Northern Arizona (Nov. 22).

sorry if this takes any attention away from the shattiest shat posts.

If Alford is correct, then it would appear Drake will play Vanderbilt in Cancun followed by either VCU or New Mexico plus two earlier home games against "lesser teams". Two years ago, Drake would have been one of these "lesser teams".

Any possibility that TV (other than MC) will pick up the Drake/Butler game?

Not that it's terribly relevant, just funny .... but apparently Alford did a promotion for a politician in NM, a thousand bucks for a pic with Alford, and nobody showed up.
Says a lot about the man, perhaps.
Wouldn't mind Drake facing and beating them this year.

LD are you sure about the list of "others"? Drake's non-con schedule shows it playing Morehead State at the Knapp as part of the Cancun Challenge. (Also SDSU. Do you suppose a certain soon-to-be track star of their's will be watching that game?)

No, I'm not sure. But this comes from a Morehead State fan.

A lot of the info on Drake's athletics website is inaccurate.

Where are you seeing this non-conference schedule? I've gone to the athletics site a bunch and I always get a blank schedule.
