Good luck to Alex at The Well this week! To those Drake faithful going to see him play, be careful not to flaunt The Drake too much. I wanted to go to Lincoln and watch Turk last season and was told not to wear Drake gear as we could cause an NCAA violation. What are Lin-Mar's colors? I want to fit in!

Linn-Mar is red and black (exactly the opposite of Drake colors, so if you wore Drake you would stick out like a sore thumb). I actually went to high school there from 2000-2004, so I got to see the kids like Jason Bohannon (playing at Wisconsin), and Jordan Printy (redshirted at Indiana State this year). I am excited to see Alex play, because he wasn't there when I was in high school.

Speaking from experience with Linn-Mar, I can tell you that basketball is what is taken seriously there. The football team is horrible b/c the kids want to focus on basketball (football team hasn't won a game in 2 years IIRC). That said, I think he will probably be a solid role player for us, as most of the guards that come out of LM are fairly proficient from the arc, and long enough to play pretty solid defense. I think he will fit in to the system pretty well. Again, I haven't seen him play in person, but that is my experience with Linn-Mar guards.

Hopefully he will blossom and turn into a nice Jason Bohannon type player, who is playing pretty well on a good Wisconsin team.

Hopefully I will see some of you at the tourney in Des Moines this weekend, since I can't make it down to STL.

Go Bulldogs, and Lions!

My understanding is Weldon is a walk on for the first year with the promise of a future scholarship.

Good luck Keno! Thanks for a GREAT year!

Linn-Mar was blown away by Iowa City High 66-46. I can't find anything about how Weldon did. Linn-Mar still plays a consolation game Saturday afternoon against Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

Linn Mar ran into a buzz saw against City High, then beat CR Kennedy in a good consolation game. With Gibbs return Alex's role change; not as much scoring. He had a solid tournament.

Weldon had 7 points in 3 state tournament games, with a high game of 3. In the one game I saw earlier this season on TV, he barely touched the ball. Can't really tell what this young man can do.

Emmenecker only averaged 4 points per game in high school, so I guess you just never know.

I think it's safe to say he's not a high powered offensive player at this point in his career.

Minnesota State head basketball coach Matt Margenthaler has announced the signing of Alex Weldon to a National Letter of Intent to play at Minnesota State beginning in the fall of 2008.

Good luck to him.

I noticed that the press release didn't list his stats....I'd be curious to see them. I'm guessing he averaged between 5 and 10 points per game.
